Neo Vision’s Weekly Rant #49
Where we RANT about what goes exceptionally good and wildly bad when you turn your company digital
Do you ever feel like you're on a non-stop roller coaster, rushing from one task to another? In this 24/7, always-on culture, slowing down can seem impossible. But what if we told you that the secret to more productivity, creativity, and joy lies in doing less, not more?
Back in 1932, philosopher Bertrand Russell hinted at this very idea in his essay, "In Praise of Idleness". He wasn't promoting laziness but was advocating for a balance between work and leisure, productivity and stillness.
So, how can we take Russell's wisdom and apply it to our fast-paced modern lives? Here are a few simple strategies to get started:
Mindfulness: Even a few minutes of mindfulness each day can help reduce stress and increase focus. Try starting or ending your day with a short meditation.
Digital Detox: Schedule time away from screens. Even a short break can refresh your mind and improve productivity.
Nurture a Hobby: Hobbies are a great way to switch off from work and engage your brain in a different way. Whether it's painting, gardening, or playing an instrument, it's time well spent.
Nature Therapy: Spend time in nature. Walk in the park, or just sit outside for a few minutes each day. The benefits of green spaces on mental health are well-documented.
Remember, it's not about being idle in the sense of doing nothing but taking time to recharge, reflect, and refresh. After all, we're human beings, not human doings.
So, staying true to this ethos of mindful slowing down, I'm keeping things short and punchy this week, sharing a select few articles that really resonated with me
