Neo Vision’s Weekly Rant #43
Where we RANT about what goes exceptionally good and wildly bad when you turn your company digital
Alrighty, here we go again, my friends!
I owe you all a bit of an apology. You know how it gets - another week, another newsletter, a bit too little sleep, and a touch too much caffeine. In last week's edition, I might've gotten a tad overenthusiastic about trying Google’s Bard. I jumped the gun and told you that it had become available in Romania. Well, I goofed. It wasn't. Oops!
You'd think Bard, with its real-time internet access, would've won me over, right? Well, not quite. Even with the whole World Wide Web at its fingertips, it still couldn't convince me to part ways with our dear ol' GPT-4.
But wait, there's more!
You remember OpenAI, right? Well, they've been busy little bees and have started rolling out some pretty cool new beta features to ChatGPT Plus users. They're not about to let anyone steal their thunder! These features are real game-changers, folks.
First off, we've got Web browsing. Now, ChatGPT can surf the web to help answer your questions about recent topics and events. No more "I don't know, let me Google that for you" – it's doing the Googling itself!
Secondly, and this one's a doozy, they've launched a plugin marketplace. Imagine this: ChatGPT, but supercharged with third-party plugins that you can enable whenever you fancy. It's like giving your AI sidekick superpowers!
And boy, the range of plugins is impressive. We're talking about plugins that let you query Slack, interact with thousands of apps via Zapier, plan trips with Expedia, and even order groceries from Instacart. Want to play chess, design with Figma, or turn text into audio? There are plugins for those too. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, my friends. There are 45 plugins in total, each with its own unique capabilities.
Fancy a deep-dive into the world of ChatGPT plugins? Check out Jas Singh's mega guide on Twitter. It's a game-changer. Go explore!
✅ Step into the world of AI, where innovation never sleeps!
Meta's Custom AI Chip: Meta (formerly Facebook) has revealed their custom AI chip called the "Kings Canyon". This chip is designed for training large language models, and it's expected to be deployed in Meta's data centers in the first half of 2023. The company's goal is to bring down the costs associated with running AI models and to make AI more accessible to people worldwide.
New AI Image Editing Research: A new AI model named DragGAN has been introduced. This model enables users to manipulate elements of an image by simply dragging them. Not only can the dimensions of an object be changed, but the direction it is facing can also be altered as if it were a 3D model. This tool is still in the research phase, and further evaluation is needed to determine the realism of the end images.
