Neo Vision’s Weekly Rant #41
Where we RANT about what goes exceptionally good and wildly bad when you turn your company digital
In last week's newsletter, I discussed the human need to acquire new skills. As technology evolves faster than ever, we need to adapt and develop additional skills. Some skills have proven more necessary than others, such as navigating through the noise of abundant information.
Looking back on history, people who could foresee changes and stick to their convictions were the winners. Over a hundred years ago, people used horses as their primary transport method. Those who believed in the potential of cars to replace horses succeeded in the long run. Similar foresight and discernment have also been valuable in other domains, such as investing in real estate, the Internet, and emerging technologies.
In today's complex and rapidly changing digital landscape, effectively filtering and processing information is a vital skill. Backed by unwavering conviction, patience, luck, and intuition, this skill will enable us to identify trends, make informed decisions, and seize opportunities others may overlook. As we adapt and grow in the digital age, honing our ability to navigate through the noise will only become more valuable over time, ensuring our success in an increasingly connected and information-driven world.

✍️ AI vs. Hollywood: Writers battle “plagiarism machines” in union talks
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is striking to restrict generative AI use in film and TV scripts, amid concerns over economic impacts. WGA writers have two primary concerns: they don't want their material used as AI training data, and they don't want to be underpaid for fixing AI-generated "sloppy first drafts." The union is fighting to ensure AI-generated drafts are not considered "literary material" or "source material" and that existing scripts are not used for AI training, to avoid IP theft. Hollywood studios have rejected the WGA's proposals, offering to discuss new technologies annually.
