Google revealed details about its TPU v4 supercomputer, which is faster and more efficient than competing Nvidia systems. The TPU v4 system, used to train Google's PaLM model, has over 4,000 TPUs and custom components. It's 1.2x-1.7x faster and uses 1.3x-1.9x less power than Nvidia's A100. However, Google's results were not compared with Nvidia's latest H100 chip.
🛒 Elon Musk is moving forward with a new generative AI project at Twitter after purchasing thousands of GPUs
Elon Musk is advancing an AI project within Twitter, having purchased around 10,000 GPUs to support the computational workload. The early-stage project involves a large language model, with possible applications in improving search and advertising. Musk has recently hired AI engineers from DeepMind and is reportedly committed to the project, despite criticizing the development of generative AI and calling for its regulation.
